I've noticed a dramatic drop in activity over the summer, while conlanging boards are as active as ever. So I was thinking maybe we could do something to liven things up, like a glyph designing challenge every couple of weeks. Coming up with an entire orthography is too much to ask, but I think we could turn out some pretty interesting glyphs with some consistency.

Any interest?

I am very interested.

Perhaps you could either give some examples of what you mean, or explain it a bit more in detail.

The point of the challenge is to create these glyphs, experimenting and innovating, and not simply use/modify an existing orthography (your own or other), sparking discussion and critique afterwards. Maybe there's voting, maybe not (we might not have enough regular posters to make that viable).

Challenge ideas might be along the lines of...

Design three ideograms for Water, Rain, and Lake

Design glyphs for two voiced and unvoiced pairs in a featural script

Design a 5 syllable word rendered in a cursive abjad, and then isolate and label the phonetic value of its graphemes

Design a 19-stroke ideogram using the basic strokes of Chinese writing, in a 2x1 block shape

I quite like this idea, count me in if there's counting to be done.

So there's some interest. Do we have enough to start?

I'm still a little confused as to how to contribute...Perhaps if you [brank] would start I might feel more at ease with what this challenge is.
