Graffiti writing produces some really interesting and bizarre versions of common gylphs. Check out this site, a taxonomy of tagger letter forms found in Paris:

Yeah, I've noticed how cool graffiti writing can be, but I'm not sure if I've ever been inspired by it. It'd be cool if somebody with a modern conworld/country posted some shops of congraffiti.

Extremely interesting.

Subculture or 'counter culture' has always been a marvelous source of inspiration and unique/original ideas.
