Henrik Theiling just posted these links to Conlang-L regarding Unicode 5.1. So are there any new characters of interest to conlangers? Dunno what you need. E.g. you get new fodder for Latin/Greek/Cyrillic based orthographies/'roman'isations. Even some new combining marks. And, of course, U+1E9E LATIN CAPITAL LETTER SHARP S. Check these: http://www.dkuug.dk/jtc1/sc2/wg2/docs/n3263.pdf http://www.dkuug.dk/jtc1/sc2/wg2/docs/n3348.pdf You could write Conlangs with domino or mahjong tiles or draughts/checkers symbols now. :)

Oh wow. Were there already chess-pieces in two colors? Playing-card suits? Musical symbols? Mathematical symbols? (They're there now, whenever they got there.) How unlikely is it that Tengwar would get included?

How unlikely is it that Tengwar would get included? http://www.evertype.com/standards/csur/index.html It's not in .pdf but it is there.

Thanks; I read that link, the links it had in it, and some of the links they had in them. Very interesting!

Here's the complete list of new blocks: Sundanese, Lepcha, Old Chiki, Cyrillic Ext-A, Cyrillic Ext-B, Vai, Saurashtra, Kayah Li, Rejang, Cham, Ancient Symbols, Phaistos Disc, Lycian, Carian, Lydian, Majong Tiles and Domino Tiles. This is weird, Sundanese has been approved but Javanese not. And to tell you Javanese is more widely than Sundanese. Also I wonder how is that Code2000 font covers the Cyrillic Ext-B and not the Ext-A. http://www.evertype.com/standards/csur/index.html It's not in .pdf but it is there. Interesting. Even Zomp's Verdurian is there. Oh, and this is my first post. :D
