Tamega
Nation: Tamega Capital: Tajad Other major cities include: Akra, Mayub, Ehun and Qabu Map color: Red Language(s): Ilya flag: Emotional/Intellectual Notes, Likes, Dislikes The Tamegans are an extremely proud nation. They take offense easily and have a complex system of etiquette . It is the Tamegan pride that distances them from the rest of the world. Much of this pride and haughtiness comes from the fact that many of them never leave Tamega. Tamegans love gems and jewelry. Clothing, tapestries, flags and similar items tend to be brightly colored. Tamegans dislike confinement in any form (small corridor, prison cell, being bound) and usually feel more comfortable outside than within a building. Proper Name: umta d'al Tamek - The Nation of the Tamek Ruler: Teno Karam Eradom - teno is the title of the sovereign ruler of Tamega. Executive authority is vested in the Teno and his council of Lords. The teno signs and executes all laws. His veto power may be overridden by a two-thirds vote of both the Council of Lords and the Council of Elders. He appoints and may dismiss all judges by decree, approves amendments to the constitution, declares war, and commands the armed forces. Council decisions, court judgments, and the national currency are issued in his name. The council of Lords, led by a Overlord, is appointed by the teno, who may dismiss other council members at the prime minister's request. The council is responsible to the Chamber of Lords on matters of general policy and can be forced to resign by a two-thirds vote of "no confidence" by that body. The constitution provides for three categories of courts: civil, religious, and tribal. Administratively, Tamega is divided into twelve governorates, each headed by a governor (sadin) appointed by the teno. They are the sole authorities for all government departments and development projects in their respective areas. The Royal Armed Forces of Tamega are under the control of the teno. Military The Tamegans are renowned for weapon mastery and martial skills. Weapons skill is a tradition that dates back to the noble houses of the first kingdom. Today, these fine warriors serve the Teno well since enemies abound. While Tamega maintains fine war schools, excellent fighters and patrolled roads and borders, they also maintain a strong navy. Tamegan vessels typically have 3 main masts, one central mast and two "boom masts", one to each side, which swing out at an angle to the sides of the ship. These vessels are called windhorses. The boom sails swing into position for extra speed and fold in against the hull when in port. The term "guard" is used in many military functions in Tamega . The soldiers who serve a noble clan are called "clan guards". The city guards that stand atop the main city gates are called "guards of the gate". Security officers, investigators and general city guards all go by the appellation "guard". There are also ship guards, tower guards, council guards, and door guards. Technology - Architecture, Tools, Weapons, Armor Tamegan architecture and technology share a common trait. Durability. The Tamek believe that everything should be built to last. They prefer to build stout homes of stone and brick instead of wood or sod. Tamek technology is equivalent to the world average. Their equipment reflects the belief of durability. Most Tamegan clothing is doubly reinforced, made of leather, wool, etc. Weapons and armor are usually metal and very heavy.

Ok, yeah, so I like architecture.. Can you describe the Tamek style more or point to one (or more) earth architectural styles. When I firgure out what to do about clothing, we might be able to dip our toes into this "game" thing :)

Can you describe the Tamek style more or point to one (or more) earth architectural styles. This is an image that I found on the interweb that closely resembles what I had in mind. This would be something along the lines of the ideal Tamek home as well.

Use Of Animals Oxen are often used as steeds and beasts of burden. Long distance communication is often done with trained hawks or more rarely messengers on horseback. Dogs serve a variety of functions. They are prized possessions and used in hunting and defending villages. Each family has at least one dog. A wealthy Tamegan may have quite a few. These dogs are exceptionally tough. In Tamegan villages, animals sleep in indoors with their masters. This is to take advantage of the additional body heat. Tamegans also burn the dung as a fuel source. The "torchfish" (sambakla) is a long, silvery 18 inch fish which is so oily that it can be used as a fuel source in lamps and wrapped around torches (from which the name is derived). Tamegans use sambakla in their lanterns frequently and harvest oil from the sambakla. Horses are used for transportation by the wealthy and noble classes. Tamegans always ride without a saddle or bit or bridle. They ride their horses bare-back. Tamegans have an affinity with all animals and are able to control their horses with a spoken word or gesture.

Gender Differences The Tamek culture is patriarchal. Gender differences do exist in both rights and responsibilities. The males create and enforce the laws, defend the cities, obtain the food and generally run the entire civilization. Females raise the young and perform other simple labors. The women do the cooking, cleaning, gathering of plants and the instruction of the female children. Pregnancies are highly desired due to the high mortality rate in any given community. Women are expected to produce many children. Men fish, hunt, make war and tend to the agricultural duties.

At the end of summer, the Tamek hold the Great Hunting Festival, more commonly known simply as the Great Hunt.. Feasting, drinking, dancing and crafts fill this five day celebration. However, the real event that draws attention is the Great Hunt. Hunters from the region will gather in Sakal to participate in the largest competitive hunt in Tamega. The hunt lasts as long as the festival and culminates in the unveiling of the game on the last day. Hunters compete in both individual and team categories and the hunting covers a number of different animals. A panel of elders determine the final champions in a large gathering at dusk on the last day. Generally speaking, the largest and most fearsome predator brought back during the week will win.

Where is Sakal? Its not listed on any map.

"Where is Sakal? Its not listed on any map." "Where is Sakal?" Sakal is a smaller village in the Kut province. TF: Please don't use the "Quote last message"/"Quick Reply" function, it messes up the board. I'd remove it if I could.

The 'major highways' of Tamega. The only things that truly make these highways 'major' are the distance markers and the guard posts. They usually consist of sporadic stone laid one wagon wide. I did not mark out the secondary roads, as they are little more than highly worn trails and rarely have any markers at all.

Maps are great. I've gotta make me some of those, maybe this weekend when I don't have any homework.

Maps are great. Thanks, I didn't really put that much work into it, but I still think it helps to have a clearer understanding of Tamek. I've gotta make me some of those, maybe this weekend when I don't have any homework. Yes, I look forward to yours, and everyone elses.
