Skjeimitekann Prepares for War
Seeing as this situation has developed, I'm responding as the country would. This thread is just to add some comments OOC for the benefit of things I'd rather keep unknown to other nations IC. As of notice from Tamega, Foreign diplomats have been placed under virtual house arrest. Though they may continue to conduct business as usual, all communications are being intercepted and checked for potentially damaging information and they must allow a unit of Tekann soldiers to remain in their vicinity at all times. Less lucky, the Tamegan diplomat has been taken to the great temple in the heart of the Capital and placed under actual arrest, though it is in an apartment, not the dungeon yet. Officials are pressuring him to have the Tamegans take their dreams of expansion elsewhere. Possibley to the fertile south and leave the interests of Skjeimitekann alone. Also, Local villages are being roused and conscripted militias formed. The naval ships are being recruited for and border garrisons filled. Though trade with Tamega continues (and will continue as usual provided there is no advance on my nation), other nation's resources are now been tapped into and Skjeimitekann is actively attempting to forge trade alliances before any serious questions of war alliance are brought to the table. In general, the Tekann aren't terrified of the current happenings. As far as I can tell, they have the best navy in the known world (no others have been seriously proposed) which puts the peninsular region of Tamega (and the capital) at a disadvantage over the highly central and less easily accessible Tekann capital. Ground armies will find progress into Tekann from the west will also be less than desirable as they will have to traverse the sizable mountain ranges to get there. While Tamega is strong enough to be taken as a serious opponent, the Tekann are going to attempt to play their hand at a fearless rebuff and possibly cause the Tamegans to back down or divert their attention. All of this remains OOC, of course.
