Reonji http://www.omniglot.com/writing/reonji.phpReonji is a hieroglyphic writing system inspired by the Egyptian, Chinese and Japanese scripts and invented by Leonid Eliseev, who started working on it in 1990. He tried to make his script compact, convenient and fast to use.
Initially he made it as a script for a constructed language with no pronunciation and a structure close to English. Later he gradually adapted it to write Russian, though it contains many constructions with no analogues in Russian. He uses it for his private notes.
It's a nice script, but I'd like to see a bit more consistency in the style of the glyphs.

Re: Reonji I'd like to see a bit more consistency in the style of the glyphs.I may be (at least partially) "style-blind". What's inconsistent about the styles of these glyphs? I don't see it (which doesn't mean it isn't there).

Well, firstly, some are logographic while others are clearly ideographic. Secondly, I don't like the way some of them are intuitive and instinctive, while others would have to be memorized...
I realize with any "hieroglyphic" system there will need to be some memorization, but ideally, keeping it to a minimum would be nice.

For some reason it makes me think of movie or cartoon-style alien scripts. I don't know russian though, but it looks as if there's a lot more linguistically abstract concepts rather than logographic symbols. But those are rather interesting looking.

It's really nice. It kind of looks alien, but also looks earthy at the same time.

I agree...some of the glyphs are aesthetically pleasing...
