Question about Unicode terminology
Does anyone here know what do "SUPERFIXED" and "SUBJOINED" terms mean? For example: U+0F90 TIBETAN SUBJOINED LETTER KA ྐ U+A872 PHAGS-PA SUPERFIXED LETTER RA ꡲ The question goes especially for the latter.

http://unicode.org/charts/PDF/U0F00.pdf http://unicode.org/charts/PDF/UA840.pdf The "KA" is sometimes used as a semi-diacritic to change a syllable, i.e. sa becomes sak. The "RA" is used in a similar way, i.e. da becomes rda. Superfixed just means "attached at the top", and subjoined means "attached to the bottom". http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Academy/9594/tibet.html

Thanks Sano. It's funny to see there are SUBJOINED and SUPERFIXED letters in 'Phags-Pa, which is a vertical script anyways. And what's worse, the proper Unicode 5.0 book chapters don't express how to handle this characters in fonts. Why not use the SUBJOINED and SUPERFIXED as normal letters? Oh well... who in the world can understand this Unicode people... "So you want to learn Tibetan..."No, I don't want to learn Tibetan. I actually want to master 'Phags-Pa, but there's little information about it. Though the Unicode chapters and these links below have been a lot of help. http://www.babelstone.co.uk/Phags-pa/index.html Some entries from this http://babelstone.blogspot.com/ blog.

I actually want to master 'Phags-Pa, but there's little information about it. Primarily because it's a dead script and it was only used for about 100 years. There isn't really a lot of info to post or analyze.
