Aswad Probably not for a cat you like ... Why not? Ask any 15 year old. It sounds like ass-wad. Last chance: Roger. Roger the cat.

...likely to be a boy and to be all black... Any suggestions for names? Chaka. Or, Chaka Let.

We chose Itzal. Apparently, it's close to Arabic ظل and Hebrew צל, so it works cross-lingually. http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/shadow#Translations

PIXPLZ. Also, "Itzal" sounds Mayan. And thus, cool.

I like "Itzal" too. I also think it sounds Mayan. "Shadow" is good for a cat this color, as well. It may also turn out to fit his characteristic behavior. (For instance some cats, when they figure out where you're going, race from behind you to be in front of you -- just the way your shadow does when you walk past a light-source.)

What green eyes! Jade-coloured, I'd say. --- BTW: Is it still advisable to be wearing jeans when he gets on your lap? Or is he learning that if his feet are touching human skin he should keep his claws in? (In college I had a cat who could tell the difference. In summertime if he was sitting on the lap of someone wearing shorts, and they stood up, he'd just slide off. But if someone were wearing jeans -- as we usually did in spring or autumn -- he'd hang onto you when you stood up.)

What green eyes! Jade-coloured, I'd say. You're seeing the reflection of the flash in his eyes. His eyes are quite yellow-gold. BTW: Is it still advisable to be wearing jeans when he gets on your lap? Or is he learning that if his feet are touching human skin he should keep his claws in? What? Do you analyze every movement of your felines? I don't...No, but I certainly analyze the distinction between claws in my jeans and claws in my skin.
