Mo`oj (Qatama calligraphy)
Because of my new scanner and quicker computer I am now able to provide you with a gallery of Qatama calligraphy, known as Mo`oj. Here are your first two samples; This says mo`oj /mo?oZ/ This says Qatama /qatama/

Very nice. I have to say I absolutely love this script. Elegant, yet menacing.

ColloquialMan- 08-15-2007

It is very wonderfully presented in a sort of way I have never seen before. Very well done!

This is something I call mogua, it's a play on moj (writing system) + gua (face), if you look closely, every grapheme of Moj can be made with a combination of these brush strokes. Again, if anyone has any specific requests for calligraphy, please feel free to ask.

Elegant, yet menacing. I would agree with that. Awesome script!

Thank you both. _________________________________________________________ Todays date on the Qatama calendar: maq gujra aj alam maru Alek(sander) is a name that I have thought about for Qatama, and in doing so, the equivalent I chose was Alhan /alhan/. The other ways of writing it would be considered nontraditional. Aleq /al@X/ Alekhan /al@xan/

Purdy. Is there a shorthand version? Having to lift your pen off the paper that for each stroke doesn't look very time efficient. Well, you don't have to lift your pen, I do it when writing in the calligraphic style for aesthetic reasons, but you could easily write each grapheme without lifting the pen. I'll post an example later. edit: both of these were written without lifting the pen Nader (Naeddyr) /nad@r/ (a pseudo-gothic style) Gramla (Gremlins) /gramla/

somewhat off-topic. Those brown characters... what did you write them on. they look like they have a cloth texture if you look closely. Its very neat.

I wrote them on regular 92bright, 20lb, white paper. The cloth looking effect comes from saving the scanned image as a .png and then editing it as a .gif with gimp. It mostly only happens with the brown and red pens though.

ngumja /NumZa/ -- n. the property of not existing for indefinitely long durations

Tolkien_Freak- 08-20-2007

Interesting that you have a word for that. Cool calligraphy, though!

nura -- n. life, vitality; v. to live, exist This example shows the progression from a flowing calligraphic style to a square-ish emblematic style.

tojla -- n. a traditional sword worn by the warrior class and nobility

Is your signature written by writing big, and then make it small and dense so that it looks like a script? Or is it really a script? It's so neat :)
