Hello! I kind of introduced myself in a post in the conlangs forum since it was my first post, but I'll be more elaborate here. Something I like to do when I get bored in a class is to try and see how I can simplify the English alphabet, like taking out letters (like the letter C since both of its sounds can be achieved by K and S), and also simplifying how individual letters are written in terms of pencil strokes. Like, does the A really need that line that runs through the middle? How about just an upside down V for the letter A. I do that kind of stuff because I'm fascinated by linguistics, though I don't have any training in the field.
A little about me personally: I'm a History major and a Writing minor. My interests have always rested in the whole conworld/conlang area but I never knew there were communities devoted to the subjects until a couple of days ago, when I was trying to see if anyone ever hypothesized what a Old Norse / Native American language would look like (If the Vikings stayed in Vinland). I've always been interested in alternate history (hence the history major and writing minor). I also like 'constructing' histories. I used to play D&D and my favorite part was coming up with character history, which is virtually useless as far as the game mechanics go.
Basically, I like exploring what could be instead of what is.
Welcome hobblinharry! You seem like you will be a good addition to our ranks.
Also, Sano - Kudos for the 'welcome basket for the mind'. We should come up with a good word for that.
