Helian http://www.omniglot.com/writing/helian.phpThe Helian alphabet was invented by Michael Evans. It is the common writing of the fictional megacity called Helios which Michael created for a video game of the same name that he hopes to finish in the future after he finishes college. He based Helian on the Latin, Greek and Cyrillic alphabets, and on a few of his own.
I'm not sure how I feel about this neography/altscript...

I can say I don't really like it...
it's obviously easy to write or do via printer, but for aesthetics, it just doesn't do anything for me

It's too alphabet-esque. It looks almost too familiar.
eldin raigmore- 09-04-2007
Does he have a good in-story explanation as to why this alphabet looks so similar to some of the ones we are familiar with *here* in our time line?
I kind of like the script, considered by itself; but as a neography it is way too familiar-looking without a good explanation.

Did you read the entry?
Do you realize the author is not a member here?

Do you realize the author is not a member here?Yes.
Did you read the entry?Yes, I did; but I didn't read anything Evans posted about... the fictional megacity called Helios which Michael created for a video game of the same name that he hopes to finish in the future after he finishes college. It seems likely he has little or nothing online about it yet (or had little when this Omniglot entry was created); but I thought maybe someone had found something, or just e-mailed him and asked him. I don't want to e-mail him if someone else already has.

The link you see posted is all that has been found, and you shouldn't rely on the rest of us to e-mail someone. Chances are, if you want to know more than is posted on Omniglot, you're going to have look for it.
Your open question(s) didn't/don't just fall on deaf ears, they don't fall on any ears when the author isn't a member here.
How can you expect us to know more when the article was only posted on Sunday, and my OP was on that same day?
eldin raigmore- 09-06-2007
How can you expect us to know more when the article was only posted on Sunday .... I just didn't notice that date. I will go look for it.
: OK, I've been to look for a date-stamp on the Omniglot article, and couldn't find it. I remember looking for it the first time I read it. Where is that date-stamp? I can't find it.
:you're going to have look for it.I have e-mailed Michael Evans my question.

That is where I get the Omniglot "News" that I regularly post here. Simon is quite obsessive about updating weekly, and usually posts a note when he wont be able to.

My current computer seems to have some troubles with the RSS feed -- I expect they're temporary, or at least that I wouldn't have trouble at some other public computers. I'll try again later.

I have e-mailed Michael Evans my question.
To which he replied:
Thank you for complimenting my script.
I have experimented writting it myself - and it is very easy with my handwriting form, as should anyone elses'.
Explaination to characters is not necessary - They know only their langauge - To them, other languages outside their world do not exist.
And in addition, Helian is just typically a font.

How very cryptic...
