Emoel gugu http://www.omniglot.com/writing/emoel.phpEmoel gugu was invented by Bae Jun in 1999 to write his conlang, Emoel, which means curved or rounded, while gugu means script. It was inspired by the Tamil alphabet. He also intended to use it to write Korean, though never really did so.
The presentation isn't the best, but it seems like a nice adaptation of Tamil.

I like it, it's aesthetically pleasing to my eyes, though it would've been better to see a longer sample.

The only problem I really have with this script is that the basic characteristic of the letters is a curly-circley glyph, but then *WHAM* suddenly there's a very angular left bracket or sharp corner. It doesn't seem that the two are supposed to be in the same script.

We have to keep in mind that there are those not as talented as you fmra...with teh MSpaint, that is...
What is also important is that the article does mention the author being inspired by Tamil, which shares some of the same characteristics that you seem to not like...
Now, I'm not gonna tell you how to feel about Tamil, but have you seen those guys?

I'm not making a comparison to other scriptors, I'm just giving my initial response to the script. There a slight but unignorable contrast that feels like driving over a speed bump at 45mph. To me at least.

Well, presentation is, to me, only about 15% of script creation. The overall look and design features are the most important AFAIAC.
This script could use a tweak or two around the edges, but IMO gets points for the attempt.
